I was awoken at the crack of dawn by the Harley fairies this morning. Two little dirty men in a pickup unloaded my new toy as the sun came up over the cedar. What a nice way to start a day.
Time was ticking as I scrambled to “Just hear it run” before I ran off to work. Time was really ticking when I “Just have to figure out how to jump it” before I go to work.
It’s a good thing work isn’t boaring, or I’d have just though about riding all day.

Finally, I got home finished the chores, and got to the task of going for a quick ride.

The sun was setting, the birds were chirping and all was right with the world when the bike started to sputter. It now seems silly that my intensive check out of the bike, from a buyers prospective was so extensive and yet I seemed to have over looked the simple task of checking for gas. Shit!
To make matters worse, it seemed I had forgone the run position in favor of the reserve position, smart right? Well the good news is I was only now a half mile from the house , and when she ran, she ran strong. The bad news is the new bike weighs a whole lot more than the sports bikes I’m used to.

So to summarize:
Always check your gas.
Harley’s are heavy.
The less you pay for a bike, the more plastic “Chrome” shit will be glued to it.

Have you ever ridden down a dark country road at night, your headlight pushing the darkness back. No matter your speed, that tiny bubble of light seems too small. Every stone, pothole or turn rushes at you from just outside the net your hi-beam throws. This is my new job. I’m riding a fledgling shop full throttle through the black.

The owner is over my shoulder screaming “Faster, Faster”. The dawn would be profit. We’ve over-run our headlights, my skills stretched to the braking point. We have a long way to go, but at least I’ve been down this road before.

The shop is braking even, every week. No small success, and not a mile stone to be overlooked. The profits will come as sure as the dawn. But not unlike a zombie movie, the dawn is never quick in coming.

Started work fixing an ailing automotive business.
Ace passed away.
Set some kind of record on National Registry test.

Got a new pocket knife.
Adam is no longer employed on the ranch.

So – I spent yesterday driving around Lake Austin picking up items from Craig’s List. Most notably 96 whole and 7 chipped/broken Parallel Clear Glass Blocks from the 1939 World’s Fair in NY. New, never used.

And FREE!

Took some labor to get them all from behind the guys house and into the truck, but they are beautiful and will be a great wall for our soon to be outdoor shower.

Well I’ve had this wordpress app for about a month and never used it, and thought today would be a good time to try it out.
And since this is made on my phone please excuse the formating.

So about three days ago Adam pulled up and the sound his motor was making was just plane terible.
So we checked the oil to find there was none, at all.
I put in afew quarts, just to watch it pour out the bottom. Seems someone had gone off roading in there cavalier, hit a boulder, torn a hole in the oilpan and didn’t know it.
So, two days later, I got the pan off, and I decided to let him put it back together.
Ill keep you posted.

Yet another DOOR update!

After waiting a few weeks between getting the doors up and tackling the math (as described in this post), the trim is going up! Nicely, I might add.

We’ve made a decision to wait on tiling the main floor (primarily time & $$), but all other floors are done (kitchen needs grouting, but damp slab means waiting a bit). The baseboard is up in most of the rooms, or being finished this week. Furnishings are generally being arranegd and the 2nd bed added (in hopes the Travie Trav) will alight here soon.

But, of course, there are lingering issues. The AC has crashed for some reason. Appliances still need to be installed. The fireplace needs to be built in and the floor in the living room tiled eventually.

But all in all, it’s getting pretty livable!
